Yomoyama: The Destination Issue

What’s your next destination? Korea? Taiwan? Unemployment? This is the time of year when most Nagano residents decide what comes next. We are looking for the following submissions:

• Life in a Suitcase: do you practically live in a suitcase? Tell us how you manage, and the biggest packing mistakes most new travelers make.

• Advice Abroad: Got any advice for ALTs heading to Thailand? Korea? A tabehodai? Share your best tips for pre-planning, airport survival, and getting the most out of a trip.

• Trail Mix: Give us your best recipes for transit-sturdy snacks.

• New Arrivals: Ah! New ground beneath your feet! Signs in languages you don’t understand! What’s the first thing you do to feel at home in a new country?

• Moving On: When do you know that it’s time for a new destination?

• Departures: If you are leaving Nagano this summer, tell us what helped you reach that decision and leave some advice for the lucky girl or guy who will soon start their own journey in Japan.

As always, we are seeking thematically relevant submissions for:

•Prose/Poetry •Photography •Non-Fiction •Travel •Author’s Choice

Guidelines: Submissions can be a maximum of three A5 pages. While Yomoyama strives to maintain as vast a contributor base as possible, we sometimes have to deny submissions that are too long or don’t fit well thematically with the rest of the issue.
